Arborists/Campus Arboretum: 277-1066
For attention to tree branch failures and other landscape tree safety concerns, call arborist personnel. Arborists are part of the Landscaping Section.
The Arboriculture staff is responsible for maintaining the campus woody ornamentals. During the year, this group accomplishes corrective pruning of trees, removal of hazards in trees, pruning trees for pedestrian and vehicle clearance, tree removals, and pesticide treatments of trees. The group also plants new tree specimens
The Facilities Management arboriculture program continues to be a strong leader in the plant health care industry by participating in the New Mexico Think Trees conference and the International Society of Arboriculture arborist certification and tree workers exams. The department currently employs 5 certified arborists.
